It's important you know who is and isn't insured to drive your car.
We insure licensed drivers and learner drivers. We do not cover drivers that are younger than any age restriction shown on your certificate of insurance, as certain vehicles have minimum age restrictions. We will also not cover drivers under 25 if you have selected to exclude drivers under 25 years old for your policy.
International licence holders
As long as the road traffic authority in the state or territory that they drive the car in recognises the international licence and the driver complies with their licence conditions, they're covered.
However, note that if they're going to drive your car regularly, you must list them on your policy as an additional driver.
If you’re a learner driver, our car insurance policies will cover you as long as:
- you’re accompanied by a fully licensed driver; and
- you have a current Learner Drivers Licence, Learners Permit or the equivalent for the state or territory where you live. An additional excess may apply in the event of a claim if the car is being driven by a learner driver.
Your Huddle Comprehensive or Basic Car Insurance provides cover only when your car is driven in Australia.
